An Invitation to SENG’s 25th Anniversary Conference By
May, 2008 SENG (Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted) is planning a celebration and you’re invited! The event is in honor of the organization’s 25th anniversary and takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah, from July 18 through 20. Each year SENG holds a conference for parents, educators, mental health professionals, and others who recognize the special needs of gifted people, especially gifted children. SENG executive director Amy Price describes the annual conference as “truly a social and emotional experience for all who attend.” The reason, she explains, is “the unique accessibility to experts” that the conference provides. Plus, she adds, there’s the “shared excitement and relief of meeting other guests with common experiences.” As in the past, this year’s conference offers keynote and breakout sessions, children’s and teens’ programs, a continuing education program for medical and counseling professionals, plus training for those who want to run SENG Model Parent Groups (support groups that meet regularly to discuss gifted children’s social/emotional needs and parenting issues). New for this conference are the SENG Institute advanced-level sessions, pre-conference workshops, and an educator’s strand. Unique this year is the 25th anniversary gala – a social hour and dinner to honor those who have been instrumental to SENG since its founding. All of us on the SENG Board of Directors hope you’ll join us in marking this milestone event.
